I'm the same with the seasons! lol even though i know the season doesn't officially start til the 21st in December or Sept or June or whatever, the minute it hits the 1st I'm like 'it's winter (or summer or spring or fall or whatever) lol . I'm tuning into getting more rest! going to bed early when I can (since my hubby is away til tomorrow I actually was in bed at 7pm last night LOL)

Glad to make my way here Havala. In answer to your question, I am hoping to make more with my hands and take slow walks outside. I do think winter offers it's own abundance of beauty.

I will definitely listen to your podcast. It sounds like a nice way to slow down as well. I'll subscribe and take a listen. I'd be grateful if you'd check out my Substack too! πŸ€—

Thanks Brenda - just subscribed to you as well. It looks like our interests and approach align nicely. 🩷 Also, YES to engaging the hands in the winter! (For me that’s usually bread, sometimes guitar.)

Wonderful, so glad! Bread making has the added benefit of having something to eat! I mostly do woodworking and some sewing.

Did you know caffeine can block Vitamin D absorption? I think it's egregious that health professionals aren't screaming this from the rooftops since caffeine addiction and SAD are endemic. So, great timing to quit the habit!

I recently learned this (along with other nutrients)...I agree, such important information at this time of year in particular!

As an INFJ and fellow Capricorn, I fully understand a natural state with very little chill. πŸ˜† This winter I am hoping to dedicate time to my creativity (especially knitting, music, and photography) and feeding my mind with meditation, Ken Burns docs (thanks PBS Passport) and good books.

Thankful to have come across your writing! I really resonate with your words and approach to life shared here. I've subscribed and look forward to reading more from you!

Oh, hi, fellow stubborn goatfish (with love, Capricorns know...) I love this list - and the opening line of your recent post, "for much of my life, I understood resilience as endurance", which I related to strongly. Subscribed back and looking forward to exploring your corner of Substack! Thank you for being here, and I hope your winter is as gentle and creative as the picture you paint here.

Always a delight to spot one in the wild! 🐐🐟 I'm so glad that line about resilience resonated. It's taken me a long time to unlearn the endurance-as-identity thing, and it feels good to know I'm not the only one experimenting with gentler definitions. Finding kindred spirits is good for the heart, for sure!
